The Perception of an Enemy

I was watching the film Revolver (2005, directed by Guy Ritchie) and came across a remarkable discussion about ego and the perception of an enemy. At the end of the film, a series of thinkers offer their interpretations — and one statement in particular stayed with me:

"All perception of an enemy is a projection of the ego as the enemy."

In the real world I feel at least one major world power is going exactly down this lane.

The Ego — As Described in the Film

The brain and mind have an ego — and the ego sees itself as separate from reality. It also sees itself as the most important part of reality. Everything in our world is built upon the foundations of the energy expressions of ego.

The single biggest con of the ego is: "I am you." The ego hides within the last place one would ever look — within itself. It disguises its thoughts as your thoughts, its feelings as your feelings. You think it is you.

People's need to protect their own egos knows no bounds. They will lie, cheat, steal, kill, and do whatever it takes to maintain ego boundaries.
