We were invited to Harish and Ruchika's wedding in Jaipur — and with it came the opportunity to stay at the magnificent Chomu Palace Hotel, about 35 km from Jaipur city.
After a stroll around Chomu and the palace grounds, we headed into Jaipur for shopping and then to Chokhi Dhani — a wonderful village-themed resort that showcases Rajasthani customs, culture, art, and food in vivid and immersive fashion.

The first wedding event was the Mehendi — a celebration where everyone wears a green natural henna paste applied in beautiful artistic forms on the hands and legs, which then stains the skin a deep red. The designs, the colours, and the occasion made for a memorable evening.

We then travelled by luxury bus to Le Meridien Jaipur for the Sangeeth night — an evening of dancing, music, food, and celebration. Kids and adults alike had a wonderful time. The energy in the room was electric.

The next day we travelled to Samode Palace, a few kilometres from Chomu, for the wedding itself. On a perfectly sunny day, against the backdrop of a grand Rajasthani palace, it was everything a royal wedding should be.
The highlight: the bridegroom Harish arriving on an elephant, welcomed by the bride Ruchika from the top of the Palace tower. A moment that is difficult to put into words.

A pre-wedding photoshoot by photographer Junmadayag was also available — a beautiful set of pictures. The SmugMug link has since been removed by the photographer. If a replacement link is available it will be added here.
